Production off-shoring and plant reconversion

CONTEXT

  • Large textile Group present in France, needing to switch to competitive manufacturing facilities
  • Maintain local economic activities

OBJECTIVES

  • To organize the transfer of production, while maintaining product quality and on-time procurement
  • Provide local staff (1,500) with new jobs

TASKS

  • Design of people assessment tools (“bilans de compétence”)
  • Close coordination with public authorities (Troyes City Council and Aube Departmental Authority) in order to match job offers with training
  • Identification of JV manufacturing opportunities in Asia
  • Financial support obtained to start up new companies

OUTCOME

  • Creation of Aube’s “Technopole” technology cluster
  • Outplacement of 100% of employees who wanted another job
  • Group revenues trebled in 6 years
